COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN -- There's a big basketball game here tomorrow night, and we have some information on that front. But there are also a few football notes and links to pass along. Read on.

...

Ken Bone held his weekly press conference yesterday, and we have details from that here, as well as a note about a discounted ticket promotion WSU is holding for home games this season. ... WSU athletic director Bill Moos held his weekly call-in show yesterday on KXLY, and you can listen to a podcasted version of that segment here. Most interesting among his comments were those about the Marquess Wilson investigation. "My first draft I finished yesterday," Moos said."It is finished. We'll tweak it a little bit I'm sure," and then they'll wait for the Pac-12 to complete its investigation (with the help of an outsourced Kansas City law firm) before presenting both to president Elson Floyd at the same time. Moos said he's "feeling good about it," and that "we're getting pretty close, which is good." He doesn't sound particularly concerned, adding that "I don't think there will be anything" when all is said and done (and released). ... Closure appears to have arrived in the strange Austin Seferian-Jenkins post-Apple Cup incident, partially because Seferian-Jenkins simply doesn't think it's a big deal and has asked all involved parties to let it go, as he told reporters on Monday in his first public comments since the game. Howie Stalwick has a few more details in this story, which seems to indicate that nothing more is likely to come of this. ... The S-R's Jim Meehan has this story from Gonzaga's media day.

Around the Pac-12 ... Oregon State is trying to take advantage of its Alamo Bowl notoriety. ... A former Oregon coach's career is in limbo after his unceremonious departure from Montana. ... Washington says it's happy with playing a team like Boise State in Las Vegas. ... Arizona is preparing for Nevada's "Pistol" offense. ... More on California's coaching search. ... A fun read on Arizona's quarterback curse. ...

In basketball news ... Arizona State's Carrick Felix is the Pac-12 Player of the Week. ... A good story here about former UCLA (and current St. John's) coach Steve Lavin and his father, Cap. ... Utah will honor former basketball coach Rick Majerus, who died earlier this week, before Wednesday's game. ... More on the slow lurch of UCLA's season. ... An Arizona native is finding new life in Southern MIssissippi.
