Christmas Eve links, but not many

COUGARS

FROM SEATTLE — We won't lie. There just isn't a heck of a lot of news out there today, what with Christmas now fewer than 24 hours away. But we still scavenged the web for anything that might be of interest, so read on.

Mike Leach and his staff received an early Christmas gift yesterday in the form of a verbal commitment from Paulo Lepua, a 3-star rated defensive end prospect out of Narbonne High School. … Not much else to pass along on the WSU front.

In Pac-12 basketball news … Arizona remains undefeated after beating Miami, 69-50, in the second round of the Diamond Head Classic. The Wildcats face San Diego State on Tuesday night in the championship game.

In Pac-12 football news … Arizona State is grieving along with one of its players. The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl helps feed the poor. … On UCLA football and bonding. … A former Oregon running back is practicing patience in the NFL. … Oregon State is acting like its trip to the Alamo Bowl is no ordinary venture. … A nice gift for Colorado would be this former Notre Dame (and Washington) defensive coordinator. … Washington's coach thinks the future is bright, but the Huskies seem to be treading water. A reader named Justin passed this story along a few days ago, but we're reminded to link to it today since it's now on the Seattle Times website.

Hope you're all enjoying the holiday season.
