Salary details for WSU football assistants

COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN -- We've obtained a list of base salary figures for the WSU assistant football coaches. A story on this topic will appear in Tuesday's paper, and we'll link that when it's available. But for now, here's a list of the salaries. Read on.

...

(UPDATE: You can read our story here.)

As Bill Moos said when Mike Leach was hired, WSU's assistant coaching budget would be $1.8 million, and it is. That covers the salaries of the nine assistant coaches, and doesn't include the salary of Dave Emerick (chief of staff, making $150,000) or Antonio Huffman (director of football operations, $80,000).

Last season's assistants budget was $1.225 million, to give you an idea of what the Pac-12's TV deal has done for WSU's financial situation.

Here's what the assistants will be making. I'm told they're all working under 1-year deals:

Defensive coordinator Mike Breske, $325,000; special teams coordinator Eric Russell, $225,000; linebackers coach Jeff Choate, $210,000, offensive line coach Clay McGuire, $200,000; running backs coach Jim Mastro, $200,000; defensive line coach Joe Salave’a, $175,000; outside receivers coach Dennis Simmons, $160,000; outside linebackers coach Paul Volero, $155,000; inside receivers coach Eric Morris, $150,000.

...

On the recruiting front, it appears the Cougars have picked up commitments from two more players -- a JUCO offensive lineman and a JUCO defensive tackle. Here's Scout.com's list of WSU's commits.
