Around the Big Sky

When the Bracketbuster pairings were revealed Monday afternoon, you had to feel happy for the Eagles, who get a nice winter trip to Los Angeles when the play at Cal Irvine on Feb. 18.

Two seniors, Laron Griffin and Tremayne Johnson, are getting something special - a last chance to play in front of family and friends. Both played high school in the L.A. area and were teammates at Southwest L.A. Community College. Freshman  Harvey is from nearby Torrance, Calif.

First, though, comes another trip south, namely this Thursday to play Northern Arizona.

The Lumberjacks are last in the conference at 1-9 following one of their better games of the year, falling to Northern Colorado 64-62 in overtime on Monday night.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING - it's the calm before the storm - there's little to report on the EWU recruiting front ahead of National Signing Day tomorrow. Interestingly, according to Scout.com, only six of 16 quarterbacks listed in-state have committed to a school as of Tuesday morning. How will they sleep tonight, especially when you read this story from rivals.com about what could happen when a recruit waits too long to decide.
