A transfer, plus an addition for WSU

COUGARS

Checking back in again this morning with a couple of small, but notable news items on the Washington State football front. Read on.

...

Another scholarship player is headed elsewhere, according to an athletic department source. Ian Knight, a reserve buck linebacker who began his WSU career at defensive end, intends to transfer to another school, though his destination is not yet known. The news was first tweeted by a WSU student named Joe Doyle. Knight, a junior college transfer who redshirted last season and will be a fourth-year junior in 2012, spent the spring working with the No. 2 and No. 3 defensive units. He transferred to WSU from Butler County College after the 2010 season. ... The other bit of news is that Mike Leach will add another member to his staff. CoachingSearch.com reported Wednesday that Jarrail Jackson, currently the receivers coach at Dartmouth, will join WSU's staff in some sort of quality control capacity. While there's been nothing official released by the school, a WSU source confirmed that Jackson will be added to the staff. Jackson was a receiver at Oklahoma in 1999, when Leach served as the Sooners offensive coordinator. ... SBNation has a lengthy preview of WSU's season. ... A trio of WSU baseball players were drafted on the final day of the MLB draft.

All for now.
