Cougs fly to Pitt, spring ball continues

COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN -- If a charter flight leaves Lewiston at 8 a.m. heading east carrying two basketball teams, will Brock Motum play on Wednesday? Read on.

...

Yes, Washington State and Pittsburgh are sharing a chartered flight back east this morning. Maybe D.J. Shelton can rub his last-season block in Tray Woodall's face. Or Charlie Enquist can talk a little smack about that step-back jumper. More likely, though, is that everyone will sleep the whole way there -- or at least disappear beneath their enormous headphones -- except for maybe the coaches, who will presumably be watching film of each other's teams at the same time. ... While the basketball team gets situated in Pittsburgh, the football team takes the field for its third practice of the spring. We'll be there. ... Here's our game story from last night, which admittedly didn't include as many details about the game as I'd have liked, such as the contributions of players like Enquist. But hopefully, we covered those in our postgame blog post. ... A version of our story also appeared in the Seattle Times. ...  If you missed Mike Leach's comments about Sekope Kaufusi on KJR 950 AM yesterday, we summarized them quickly in this blog post. ... Howie Stalwick had this story in the Kitsap Sun. ... Stalwick also had a story in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. ... Here's a story from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. ... The WSU baseball team won twice yesterday, first beating No. 6 UCLA, 10-4, before winning 11-1 over Long Beach State.

There are two Pac-12 basketball games today ...

NIT -- Stanford vs. Massachusetts, 4 p.m. (ESPN2): The Cardinal are putting a positive shine on a disappointing season.

NIT -- Washington vs. Minnesota, 6 p.m. (ESPN2): The improved Huskies are happy to be in New York.

Elsewhere ... Arizona's quarterback is impressing the new coach. ... Herb Sendek is still encouraged despite Arizona State's recent failures. ... USC is looking for more defensive linemen. ... Jared Cunningham is reportedly testing the NBA draft waters. ... Spring practices are closed at Oregon. The Ducks' basketball team turns its attention to recruiting after a disappointing finish. ... Evaluating BYU as it heads into its final week of spring practices. A BYU receiver tries to regain his pre-mission form.

All for now. We'll be back from football practice later.
