Day of turkey, links

FROM PULLMAN — Happy Thanksgiving to all, and to all a happy Thanksgiving. We'll keep the links short today. It is a holiday, after all. Read on.

Our story in today's newspaper focused on WSU's coaching staff embracing the Apple Cup rivalry in their first season at the school. We have some more on that on the blog, and also made our Pac-12 picks in the paper. … Bud Withers has a story looking at WSU's recruiting efforts, specifically outside of the region. … We answered five questions about the game for Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. Bob returned the favor and we'll post his responses on the blog later today. … John Blanchette writes that Apple Cups in years ending with “2” are often classics. And Condotta writes about the 2002 game. … Mike Leach got a little testy yesterday with Jim Moore during his interview on 710 AM. … The Huskies are finishing the year strong once again.

Around the Pac-12 … After a tough career, Arizona's quarterback is going out on a positive note. … A friendly rivalry within a friendly rivalry. … Jeff Tedford's buyout at California has drawn criticism. … USC is trying to contain Notre Dame's quarterback. … UCLA is preparing for a “no-frills” offensive approach from Stanford. … There hasn't been much for Utah to celebrate this season. … A Colorado player is trying to prove he has skills to play in the NFL. … Oregon has its hands full with Oregon State's passing game. … Oregon State will have a new starter at the ever-important fullback position.

In basketball action … USC lost to Marquette, 72-64. … Utah beat Idaho State, 57-46.

Enjoy the holiday. Think about what you're thankful for.
