In today's newspaper, we wrote this WSU notebook and also took a first look at California. On the blog, we recapped yesterday's media day with a transcription, some video and some notes about WSU's depth chart. ... Bud Withers details some of Leach's comments Monday in this story. ... Howie Stalwick has this notebook in the Kitsap Sun, noting also that defensive lineman Lenard Williams has left the team. As with Dan Spitz, Williams is no longer listed on WSU's roster. From California: The Bears get an A-grade for their win over UCLA.

The big news in the Pac-12 yesterday was that Oregon State quarterback Sean Mannion suffered a knee injury against WSU that will require surgery and will keep him out indefinitely.
