Off to Vegas

FROM PULLMAN — An early-morning drive from here to Spokane is on tap for yours truly, followed by a flight to Las Vegas. The team is heading down there today, too, but we have some links to share before making the trip. Read on.

For today's newspaper, we wrote about Connor Halliday and the possibility that he'll make the second start of his career on Friday. We also have our Pac-12 picks (WSU 38, UNLV 10, in case you were wondering) as well as a blog post detailing practice — because we can still do that around here — and a recap of our live chat. … Jim Moore answered some questions about WSU for Pacific Takes. … CougCenter has a good breakdown of a couple of passing plays from Saturday's game. A well-informed fan examines an interesting aspect of WSU's quarterback play.

Around the Pac-12 (and UNLV) … Arizona State's family man has a lot on his plate. … A USC safety isn't changing his hard-hitting mindset despite being dealt a suspension last year. … UCLA is looking for better defense against Houston this time around. … California coach Jeff Tedford says disagreements with players are part of the game. … The Stanford-USC rivalry is friendlier than before. … Utah is a state divided when the Utes and BYU get together. … Fresno State's quarterback might be a problem for Colorado. … Oregon's lawyers haven't come cheap. … An Oregon State running back isn't trying too hard. … Keith Price is confident Washington's offense can turn things around.

All for now.
