Live chat today, plus a tough week for WSU

COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN -- The past few days have been trying times for Washington State fans in a couple of different ways. The football team will try to turn that around this weekend against Oregon, but more bad news trickled in elsewhere yesterday. Read on.

...

First, a programming note that we're moving today's live chat up to 12 p.m. to accomodate for a busy schedule later this afternoon. ... As The Daily Evergreen reported after witnessing the arrest live, a potential WSU basketball recruit, junior college point guard Chad Frazier, was cited for minor in possession of alcohol over the weekend while in Pullman on a visit. Then, as Cougfan.com reported, Frazier made a verbal commitment to Oklahoma State on Monday. (And in case you're wondering if Frazier's citation is related to Reggie Moore's dismissal from the team, it's not, according to this report by Braulio Perez. And for what it's worth, a Pullman Police Department spokesman told me the police report did not note whether Frazier was accompanied by others at the time of the citation.) ... In today's newspaper, we have a Pac-12 notebook that leads with the success Oregon State has experienced early in the season. We also posted on the blog yesterday with some comments from Mike Leach, as well as our usual practice report. ... Howie Stalwick has a feature on Xavier Cooper, who we'll be writing about later this week. ... John Henderson writes more about WSU's collapse (though the Cougars led 31-14, not 34-17. But you get the point). ... Yahoo! previews this week's game. ... From Oregon: the Ducks are preparing for WSU's passing attack, while their quarterback tries to hold onto the ball.

Around the Pac-12 ... A Northwest product is already doing big things as a freshman at Stanford. ... Arizona will see a different look from Oregon State this week. ... Another Northwest product is finding early success at Arizona State, somewhere he almost didn't end up. ... Oregon State and Arizona will play this week with quarterbacks recovering from last week. ... California players want their fans to chill out a bit. ... Stanford's quarterback will make his first road start at Washington tomorrow. ... The Salt Lake Tribune has WSU at the bottom of its power rankings. ... Colorado's coach likes his versatile defensive lineman. ... A UCLA linebacker missed practice after getting in a scooter accident. ... Matt Barkley says USC is worried about wins, not statistics.

Check back at noon for our live chat.
