Catching up on defections, plus links

COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN -- Before Washington State returns to the practice field this afternoon for its seventh workout of the spring, we decided it might be a good idea to recap the list of players who have left the team in recent weeks. Also, we have links. So read on.

...

Being in Salt Lake City for the first couple spring practices fouled up our rhythm a little bit in terms of tracking personnel and whatnot, so we figured we'd clear everything up in this morning's blog post, because I've gotten a few questions on the matter. ... By my count, these are the scholarship players who were on the original spring roster issued by WSU, but are no longer with the program: DT David Davis, WR Henry Eaddy, LB Keith Ewing and LB Darren Markle. All were low on the depth chart and weren't likely to see the field any time soon. A few walk-ons have also left the team, including RB Manuel Lamson, WR Michael Newman and WR Willie Roach (who was gone shortly after his practice scuffle with Connor Halliday), none of whom is on the roster anymore. I've also gotten a few questions about CB Brandon Golden, who left the program and transferred quite a while ago (his return to Twitter was the first clue). QB Cody Clements transferred to Cerritos College, and DT Justin Clayton finished last season on the roster but was no longer listed when spring started. Plus, CB Ray Ford didn't qualify and is obviously no longer here, either. So I think that about covers all of the familiar names that aren't in the program anymore. If I'm leaving anyone out -- or if you have questions about someone else -- please let me know. ... Didn't have anything in today's newspaper, but here's a recap of yesterday's live chat, in case you missed it. ... The Seattle Times has a story today about the 1941 WSU basketball team.

Around the Pac-12 ... A pair of Arizona recruits wound up being the stars of last night's McDonald's All-American game. No truth to the rumor that the winners get free McRibs for life. ... Andy Enfield hopes to make USC's basketball program relevant again. ... Steve Alford has a legacy to live up to at UCLA, and you know what will happen if he fails. ... California's Allen Crabbe is entering the NBA draft. ... Colorado's Andre Roberson is still weighing his options. ... Arizona State is expecting big things from running back Marion Grice.

That's it for now. We'll be back after WSU's practice.
