Winterhawks win Game 1

Ty Rattie had a natural hat trick in the third period and Oliver Bjorkstrand scored twice in the second period Friday night as the Portland Winterhawks defeated the Spokane Chiefs 7-2 to open the WHL Western Conference best-of-seven semifinals at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The teams were tied at 2 until late in the second period when Portland unleashed five consecutive goals. Game 2 is Saturday night at the Rose Garden. Story to come
