Vandals add point guard Dean

Glen Dean, a graduate transfer who played two years at Eastern Washington and last season at Utah, has joined the Idaho men's basketball program and will be eligble to play this season. Dean, a Seattle native, graduated at Utah and was able to transfer to Idaho and immediately play under NCAA rules. His brother, Perrion Callandret, was part of Idaho's earlier announced recruiting class and will be a freshman this fall.

In addition to the family connection, Dean's former coach at Eastern, Kirk Earlywine, is on the Vandals' staff.

“It’s great to be able to add Glen Dean to the roster, no question about that,” UI coach Don Verlin said. “He graduated from the University of Utah and per NCAA rules he was able to transfer. Glen wanted to come back and play with his brother Perrion and obviously with Coach Earlywine on staff it’s a great fit. Having a guy with his Division I experience and his maturity and already having his degree, it was a great fit for both of us but obviously it’s great the University of Idaho.”

Idaho also announced the addition of walk-on Chad Sherwood, a guard from West Albany High in Oregon.
