Victoria ties Chiefs for fifth place

The Victoria Royals continued their improvement in the Western Hockey League by defeating Seattle on Tuesday and tying the Spokane Chiefs for fifth place in Western Conference rankings (by points). Spokane had been solidly in fourth place for several weeks, but Tri-City recently passed Spokane and Victoria is threatening to send the Chiefs to sixth place. The conference's sixth-place team would open the playoffs at No. 3, presumably Kamloops. No. 5 would open at No. 4. Read story
