Americans pass Chiefs into fourth place
The Tri-City Americans held off Vancouver 5-4 on Tuesday night to move past the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey League's Western Conference. The Americans (34-22-1-2) have 71 points, one more than the Chiefs (34-24-2-0) and two more than Victoria (32-22-1-4). The three teams hold down fourth, fifth and sixth places in the conference. All three will make the playoffs, but only the No. 4 will have home-ice advantage in the first round. Spokane has 12 games left in the regular season; T-C and Victoria have 13. The Chiefs will host the Eastern Conference's best team, Edmonton, on Friday night. Read story
