Ams beat Portland, solidify hold on fourth

The Tri-City Americans defeated the high-powered Portland Winterhawks on Tuesday night to give them an extra cushion on fourth place in the Western Hockey League's Western Conference. The Americans, with 77 points, lead the fifth-place Spokane Chiefs by three points. Both teams have 10 games left in the regular season.
