FROM OAKLAND -- It's back to work today for Washington State, which plays a 1 p.m. game at California in Haas Pavilion. We have some links and a few notes to pass along first. Read on.

We have a short advance of today's game in the newspaper. ... Had a chance to speak with Klay Thompson yesterday prior to Golden State's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. He had some interesting things to say about the direction of the WSU program, his maturation as an NBA player and other subjects. We'll have a story on that in the newspaper next week, and likely a blog post before then. WSU players, coaches and other team personnel also took in the game from a luxury suite. ... Here's a preview box from the Kitsap Sun. ... California is trying to play tougher and care more.

In Pac-12 basketball news ... Oregon State has suspended two players for violation of team rules, and they will miss the Beavers' game against Arizona tonight (5 p.m., ESPNU). The Wildcats might use their bench more to help offset fatigue. ...  Bill Walton visited Oregon and Oregon State's campuses on Friday. ... Colorado will try to slow down the surging UCLA Bruins today (11 a.m., Pac-12 Networks). ... Stanford's Dwight Powell has played well despite the loss of his mother this season. The Cardinal host Washington tonight, as the Huskies try to win their third consecutive road game to start conference play (8 p.m., Pac-12 Networks). ... Utah and its tough guy will host USC today (3 p.m., Pac-12 Networks). ... A detailed analysis of Arizona State's win over Oregon State on Thursday.
