Daugherty will sit behind WSU’s bench

Washington State head women's basketball coach June Daugherty, who had an appendectomy on Thursday, will sit behind the Cougars' bench as a spectator for tonight's Pac-12 Conference tournament quarterfinal against Stanford in Seattle. Daugherty's husband, Mike, will serve as interim coach, as he did for Thursday's opening-round win over Arizona State. Before coming to Pullman, the Daughertys coached together at the University of Washington. Both were excited to see the conference tournament move from Los Angeles to Seattle. June Daugherty's surgeon and WSU's team doctor cleared her to attend the game, just 24 hours after her surgery. The game will start in 15 minutes.
