Starting to look at spring


FROM SALT LAKE CITY -- We've got basketball on the brain this week, but are also trying our hand at double-duty as well. So that means a couple of football links for you from the road as WSU gears up for spring practices. Read on.


In the newspaper, we have a story about David Yost and what he plans to bring to WSU's offense this spring. On the blog, we have a brief preview of each of the Cougars' offensive positions. ... One former Cougar met another in the Division-II Sweet 16 last night. John Allen and Western Washington emerged victorious over Patrick Simon and Seattle Pacific, though Simon had the better game.

Around the Pac-12 ... Washington's season ended yesterday with a 90-79 loss to Brigham Young in the first round of the NIT. ... Stanford, meanwhile, lived to play another day by holding off Stephen F. Austin, 58-57 at home. ... California's point guard is finally starting to figure out his role. ... A son hopes to avenge a game his father lost to UCLA years ago. ... A seldom-used Colorado center could get some playing time in the NCAA tournament. ... Oregon State coach Craig Robinson might need a turnaround next season to save his job. ... Oregon's coach thrives on consistency. ... A few spring football links ...
