Finally, the Eagles are getting into the Big Sky Conference portion of their season, starting with Saturday's home game against Weber State. I'll be at practice later today, but in the meantime, here's an early look at the game from Eastern sports information director Dave Cook. Predictably, the Eagles dropped in the polls after Saturday's loss at Sam Houston, which took Eastern's No. 2 spot and sent the Eagles to No. 6 in The Sports Network media poll. Eastern is eighth in the coaches' poll. ... Elsewhere, Montana State RB Cody Kirk is the Big Sky Conference offensive player of the week. ... In Ogden, Jim Burton of the Standard-Examiner examines Weber State's struggles on the football field this season, as well as a story looking at the rest of a very difficult schedule for the Wildcats.
