2015 guard Wade commits to GU

Jesse Wade, a 6-foot, 170-pound point guard at Davis High in Kaysville, Utah, has orally committed to Gonzaga’s basketball program but it could be a while before he wears a GU uniform.

I just exchanged text messages with Wade, who is boarding a plane for home after visiting Gonzaga the last two days. I hope to talk with him in a couple hours.

For now, there's a bit more on Wade below, along with some articles from Utah papers.

Wade announced his decision via twitter. He is the first member of Gonzaga’s 2015 recruiting class, but Wade is expected to serve a two-year LDS Mission before joining the Bulldogs. GU’s 2014 class includes point guard Josh Perkins and guard Silas Melson.

“Their winning tradition, their coaches and the campus is amazing,” Wade told the Deseret News. “The people there are so nice and the players are great people. It just felt right.”

Wade averaged 14.3 points, 2.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds as a sophomore, earning 5A third-team all-state honors. He’s listed as a three-star recruit by ESPN.com and Scout.com. He’s rated No. 21 among 2015 point guards by Scout.com.

Wade also had scholarship offers from UC Riverside, Utah State and San Francisco, according to the Deseret News.
