Boise running back transfers to WSU

From Pullman — Former Boise State running back Aaron Baltazar will transfer to Washington State, WSU announced on Wednesday. Baltazar must sit out the 2014 season per NCAA transfer rules, then will have three years of eligibility remaining.

More on WSU's new running back after the jump.

Baltazar contributed as a freshman for the Broncos, rushing for 234 yards and two touchdowns on 50 carries in five games. The 5-foot-10, 215 pound freshman also caught five passes for 19 yards, and returned one kickoff for 24 yards before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

His best games were the season opener at Washington where he rushed for 49 yards on 10 carries, and a breakout game at Fresno State that saw him pick up 92 yards and two scores on 18 carries.

Baltazar played his prep ball for Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, Calif., rushing for 1,855 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior. According to Scout.com, Baltazar also had scholarship offers from UCLA and UW coming out of high school.
