Pac-12 media day one roundup

From Hollywood -- Bronzed from the sun and with A-list actors and actresses (depending on your preference) hanging from both arms, the Pac-12 media members emerged victorious from the first of the Pac-12's twain media days armed with a season's worth of sumptuous story lines and juicy anecdotes.

OK, so most of us are simply hot, whiny and secure in the knowledge that this was not the first college football offseason ever in which the players shrank. But there were some good stories to come out of Wednesday's session and I've collected a number of them here, starting with my own, after the jump.

...

Alas, despite a resurgent season Washington State was not the star of the show ... Nobody shined brighter than commissioner Larry Scott, or maybe that was just the glare from his cheesy grin ... Notes, quotes, stories, oh my! We collected all of the above in this blog post ... WSU coach Mike Leach is often a star at these sorts of things, we've got a transcription of his remarks and video ... You thought you were finally done with former S-R writer Christian Caple? Ha! The cockroach of WSU writing is back with a story on quarterback Connor Halliday ... Bud Withers has a column on USC's Steve Sarkisian, who had his first media day in non-UW gear ... The Pac-12 media poll (below) is out and Oregon is picked to win it all ... College football playoffs are here and that should be good news for the Pac-12 ... Utah players say it's time to finally make some noise in the Pac-12.

Below is the official Pac-12 medial poll. I want us to be completely honest with each other, so here is my ballot:

North: 1. Oregon 2. Stanford 3. Washington 4. Washington State 5. Oregon State 6. The Mariana Trench 7. California

South: 1. UCLA 2. Arizona State 3. USC 4. Arizona 5. Utah 6. Colorado
