Converted QB McCain catches on at Idaho

Among the unlikeliest of breakout stars of the young football season, Josh McCain has become one of quarterback Matt Linehan's go-to targets at Idaho -- and a lesson in patience and flexibility in a college athletics culture where often the first reaction of an athlete who doesn't crack the starting lineup is to transfer.

His season is only three games old, but McCain is already among the nation's leaders in receiving, as noted here in this Spokesman-Review story on the former Vandals quarterback, who made the switch to his new position during spring drills.

There's also a video interview with McCain from the UI website, and a highlight reel-worthy clip of his big catch in last week's loss at Ohio University below.

The 0-3 Vandals go after their first win Saturday when they return to the Kibbie Dome for a 2 p.m. against fellow Sun Belt Conference member South Alabama (1-2). The game can also be viewed over ESPN3.
