ThaiCoug on Thank you on May 28 at 8:54 a.m.
SpectreCoug,
Thanks for your service. I am retired military and have two sons currently serving. To all of those that were willing to serve this great country, thank you. To the rest enjoy your freedom, it was not free and won’t be in the future.
SpectreCoug on Thank you on May 28 at 8:39 a.m.
I was able to read that speech at Lincoln’s Memorial when I went to DC a little over a year ago. Very moving.
I have one month to go in my latest 3-month tour in Afghanistan. #8 here, #14 overall since 9/11. They’re all very similar, but it gets exponentially tougher once you have kids. My two boys are 3+ years, and 7 months. It tears my guts out when I say goodbye to them and my wife.
Other than that, the food is free, all-you-can-eat, and terrible. Armed Forces Network televises all the pertinent games, so I’ve been able to voluntarily not watch the NBA playoffs. Thanks to you as well, Vince, for providing enjoyable content that is one of my first stops every day. Makes the time go by a bit faster.
Enjoy the day everyone.
AZCoug on Another gem-filled Sunday on May 27 at 8:47 p.m.
Ah yes. Mike Littlewood is the BB ref that botched the call that cost the Cougs a victory against Oregon.
Radbooks on Summer's opening weekend on May 26 at 11:15 a.m.
I probably said some similar things at that exact same time, Vince! And turned the channel. League has not done a good job this year… leave in the other guys to close out the game!
Radbooks on WSU links, and the best catch you'll ever see on May 26 at 11:09 a.m.
That was an incredible catch… I’m glad you shared it.
What a funny interview with Leach… he’s an interesting guy. :)
tom_floyd on Summer's opening weekend on May 26 at 8:44 a.m.
Bummer… no grease bars.
TommyCoug on WSU links, and the best catch you'll ever see on May 26 at 8:21 a.m.
Thanks for the Leach radio interview link, Christian…Mike is indeed a..”dry mouthed beauty”…with his comments and sense of humoron long interviews about all topics…I can’t wait to see and hear him on some away Cougar TV football games I don’t or can’t get to!!
Coug fans…ya just got to listen to the full 20 minutes…fabulous and almost hysterical at times!!
GO COUGS!!…GO LEACH!!
TommyCoug on It's not a dry day on May 26 at 7:46 a.m.
Thanks Vince, for the Dale Ford link. Wow! The Dale “The Whale” Ford story is really unfortunate…glad it’s not anymore tragic than it is. A little younger than me…but, while I was still in the area I watched him play all 3 sports…tremendously talented athlete. Didn’t know anything about his academics or outside life…as far as I remember he was never in trouble that I can recall.
Great to hear about Lone Star Dietz…maybe we can get some more Wazzu publicity with a look at NCAA football championship nearly 100 years later??!!
Lopes hire still worries me a little…I trust the time since Fresno State has added maturity and integrity to his approach to college basketball…
GO COUGS!!
TommyCoug on WSU hires Ray Lopes as assistant basketball coach on May 24 at 11:15 a.m.
Following and learing at the side of Kelvin Sampson…Hmmmm…not a great idea, characteristic or something to list on a resume’ as far as I am concerned…Let go (or fired) at Fresno State for infractions…How good a hire can this Lopes be??!!
GO COUGS!!
vinceg on It's not a dry day on May 24 at 9:59 a.m.

Well, it’s very large. It will take a lot of work to excise it.
pault on It's not a dry day on May 23 at 11:38 a.m.
For someone who is supposed to be retired, you appear to be working your ass off.
rufus on It's not a dry day on May 23 at 10:24 a.m.
Same old story w/the M’s … no run production. ( Been this way since Big Lou left.)
Rambler on WSU hires Ray Lopes as assistant basketball coach on May 23 at 7:39 a.m.
This news and the signing of a kid from Australia that played at a JC in Gillette, WY! Wow, I can feel the excitement building. Sounds like we’re ready for the PAC-12 now.
Shaun on WSU hires Ray Lopes as assistant basketball coach on May 23 at 7:35 a.m.
I see a coaching/support staff of seven (not counting strength and conditioning, who works with other programs) - Bone, Lopes, Hironaka, Johnson, Allen, Tim Marrion (operations) and Mike Simonson (video). Have any of those moved on? No wonder the budgets of these athletic departments are going up and up and up with seemingly no end in sight.
rufus on WSU hires Ray Lopes as assistant basketball coach on May 23 at 7:20 a.m.
Are their more coaches now … than the starting 5 ?
bradley010a on Hironaka, Peters and some links on May 22 at 9:43 a.m.
I support the right to arm bears.
Northern_Kid2 on A wide range for the morning on May 22 at 8:21 a.m.
Morrison needs to get a haircut and a shave. When I first looked at the picture I thought Vince had copied a picture of a bearded Ugly woman from a circus act. Given Morrison’s lack success in the NBA he might want to show that he is making changes….
Gotta love that Mariners support Felix against the Rangers and beat Yu Darvish…. Darvish is the real deal.
SpectreCoug on A wide range for the morning on May 22 at 8:19 a.m.
The Tour d France, and competitive cycling in general, makes the steroid era in baseball look tame by comparison.
rufus on A wide range for the morning on May 22 at 7:15 a.m.
Tour D France starts June 30th…
one of the great sporing events and greater still that is it shown live ( every day during the 21 day event) from France starting (usually) at 5.00am . . The old versus channel now nbcsports.com boardcasts the event.

Tommy:
I don’t believe it was behind Cougfan’s paywall this morning but is now. Sorry, nothing I can do for you except to say we at the S-R will be running the story on Wednesday morning. I can link it then.
TommyCoug on Solving a Palouse mystery on May 21 at 2:15 p.m.
Vince, I can’t get into the Cougfan item on Dale Ford. Anyway you can facilitate that for me or those of us that don’t have “an account” with them.
Strange…sometimes I can get it or get to read many of their items but, today I can’t…can you link or send the open version to me/us?
Thanks, TommyCoug
TommyCoug on Hironaka, Peters and some links on May 21 at 1:52 p.m.
Some folks hunt…some fish…some do neither…or both. It’s been going on since the beginning of time. Whether for a food source or trophies…
I don’t hunt…but, I am not going to judge a guy that does!!
GO COUGS!!…GO LEACH!!
kaddy on Solving a Palouse mystery on May 21 at 10:52 a.m.
Epic story on Dale Ford. Sad for the family he left behind - sounds like he deals with several demons. Would be nice to hear of a reconnection with his family and WSU, but I doubt that ever happens.
Northern_Kid2 on Solving a Palouse mystery on May 21 at 8:33 a.m.
Whoa! Interesting story on Dale Ford…. CougFan has been great about keeping up on Old Cougar greats….. Was sad to read the story on Steve Poudakis (spelled wrong!)…

SpectreCoug on Hironaka, Peters and some links on May 20 at 10:02 a.m.
Dear God, people. Get a grip. Leach isn’t gonna spend every waking moment in his office. What he chooses to do with his time is his business. If he wants to legally hunt a bear, let him hunt a damn bear and quit making moral judgements unless you have no skeletons in your closet, which is highly unlikely.
rufus on History in the making on May 20 at 9:54 a.m.
great game by the baseball team - never gave up - still some hope for the ncaa.( however faint )
OlyCoug on Hironaka, Peters and some links on May 19 at 10:58 p.m.
wishtheywould,
I’ve never understood why someone would want to shoot something for entertainment. Killing a magnificent creature like that now-dead seven-foot-tall, 350-pound bear for fun is akin to spitting on creation itself, in my opinion.
Why not prove your manhood by leaving the camo and high powered rifle at home and going into the forest to wrestle the wildlife with your bare hands instead? Let’s level the playing field out there and see who wins.
Speaking of playing fields, doesn’t Leach have anything better to do with his spare time? Given the woeful status of the WSU football program, I suspect he’s got enough game film to study to keep him out of the forest for a long time. At least let’s hope so…for the bears’ sake.
