Shock finish strong, defeat Rush 69-47

Ruschard Dodd-Masters returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the final two minutes, sparking Spokane past Chicago 69-47 Thursday in the first round of the Arena Football League playoffs.

The Shock (15-4) will take on the winner of Sunday's Arizona-San Jose game for the National Conference championship. If the Rattlers win, the Shock will travel to Phoenix next week. If the SaberCats win, Spokane will entertain San Jose. Chicago finished 10-8, but made Spokane work four quarters for the win.

My unedited game story is below.

Shock improve to 2-0

Spokane went on the road for the second straight week and claimed its second straight AFL win.

The Shock thumped the Chicago Rush 76-61 on Sunday to improve to 2-0. Erik Meyer finished with seven touchdown passes, three to Adron Tennell.

Find an unedited game recap below.

Shock’s winning streak comes to an end

Chicago played turnover-free while Spokane had three giveaways. The result was predictable.

The Rush thumped the Shock 73-62 on Sunday, snapping Spokane's three-game winning streak. Here's a game recap.

Shock try to stay hot in Chicago

Spokane, hot of late, faces Chicago, riding a two-game losing streak, on Sunday in Chicago.

The Shock (6-4) are back in the playoff picture after winning their last three games, adding to the importance of today's game with the Rush (6-4).

Here's my game preview that will run in Sunday's S-R. Spokane has activated linebacker Terence Moore (knee) off injured reserve, but he probably won't start.

Meyer suffers concussion in Shock win

Just as Erik Meyer appeared to be settling in as the Shock's starting quarterback he had to leave the field with assistance from the training staff. Meyer, in his second start, departed in the third quarter after making a tackle on a Chicago defender who had picked off a Meyer pass.

Meyer suffered a concussion on the play. His status for Saturday's road game against New Orleans will be determined later this week. Meyer missed part of last season, when he was Spokane's backup quarterback, with a pinched nerve.

The former Eastern Washington standout tossed seven touchdown passes in his debut as the starter, leading Spokane past Philadelphia two weeks ago. He followed that up with five TDs against Chicago before he was injured.

John Blanchette pinch-hit for me covering the Shock game, but he apparently didn't pinch-blog, so here's his game story from Spokane's win over Chicago on Saturday night. Here's Chris Anderson's game photos.

Shock take on third-ranked Rush

The Spokane Shock have had several chances to string some wins together this season, but only once have they had back-to-back victories. They get another chance tomorrow when Chicago visits the Arena.

Here's my game preview.

Shock win a thriller, 63-49

Back with my unedited game story from Spokane’s 63-49 win over Chicago. Sorry for the delay, but my computer acted up. Read on.

Shock hold off Rush

Spokane and Chicago traded touchdowns until deep into the fourth quarter when the Shock defense made a goal-line stand. The Shock turned that stop into a Greg Orton touchdown reception at the other end and Spokane went on to a 63-49 win at the Arena on Friday..

The victory gives Spokane hosting rights throughout the playoffs.

Game story in about 90 minutes.

Spokane tangles with depleted Rush

Spokane returns home after two lengthy, but successful road trips, when it entertains Chicago at 5 p.m. Friday. My unedited advance is below.
