Gonzaga outlasted Cincinnati 61-59 on Wednesday to capture the Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center. The Bulldogs lost in their previous Maui title appearance, falling to UConn in 2005.

Gonzaga’s Robert Sacre sent the game to overtime with a jumper from the middle of the lane with 15.6 seconds left in regulation.

In OT, Cincinnati missed 5 of 7 free throws. Gonzaga moved in front 57-56 on Elias Harris’ two foul shots — GU’s first lead since 12:50 remained in the first half. Sacre’s dunk on a dish from Steven Gray put GU in front 59-57 with 2:40 left and Harris added a free throw with 1:03 left.

Yancy Gates’ dunk narrowed GU’s lead to one with 12.6 seconds left. Sacre made 1 of 2 free throws  with 9.8 seconds left and Cashmere Wright missed from about 10 feet. Gonzaga gathered the rebouund as time ran out. .
