Garcia likely starter for Sharks

Game-day for the Shock and it looks like they’ll be dealing with Aaron Garcia at quarterback. Garcia has been sidelined with a concussion and separated shoulder, but he practiced this week and will probably start tonight, according to the Florida Times-Union. More here.

Elsewhere, the Arizona Rattlers are now battling for a home playoff game because Milwaukee doesn’t have a suitable alternative site to the Bradley Center, which is undegoing renovations. The Arizona Republic also reviewed the AFL’s first year in this article. In the near future, look for the AFL to re-up with NFL Network for another year.

Purvis and Garcia

I forgot to mention this when the Shock signed WR Robert Redd earliier this week. Spokane has traded Neil Purvis, a defensive lineman who played a key role in the Shock’s ArenaCup championship run in 2006, to Jacksonville for future considerations. Spokane signed Purvis a while ago, but he had reservations about reporting and wanted to stay closer to home on the East Coast.

Here’s an update from the Shock’s open tryout last week in Los Angeles.

Also, former WSU quarterback Aaron Garcia, a mainstay in the old AFL, has signed with Jacksonville.
