Back with a Shock notebook. The first item is on Shock OL Rob McMackin, whose brother, Shawn, plays for the Chicago Rush, Spokane’s opponent on Friday in the Arena. Unfortunately, Shawn, an offensive lineman who moved to fullback a few weeks ago, hurt his knee last week and is sidelined for the rest of the season.
Read on for more on the McMackins, the playoff picture and the arrival of the 2009 ArenaCup championship rings.
Spokane’s offensive line has been reworked several times this season and the unit will see another change against Milwaukee on Saturday. Rob McMackin, who hurt his knee in the Bossier/Shreveport game in mid April, has been activated. Harrison Nikolao, who started at center last week, has been put on injured-reserve. The team didn’t specify Nikolao’s injury.
Elsewhere, former Shock defensive back Al Phillips, a starter at the outset of the season before getting hurt, signed with Milwaukee. No word on whether Phillips will play against the Shock. The Iron have another former Spokane player in Virgil Gray, but he’s been on I-R.
