Shock blow lead, fall to Orlando

There is no such thing as a sure thing in arena football, as Spokane found out the hard way Saturday night.

Spokane blew a 13-point lead — with possession of the ball — in the final minute. The result: The Shock lost a game it seemingly had won as Orlando pulled out an 83-82 victory at the Arena.

My unedited game story is below.

Shock get huge road win

Spokane earned its first road win of the season with a 70-58 victory over No. 2 Orlando on Saturday.

Spokane's defense made four stops and quarterback Kyle Rowley accounted for 10 touchdowns (eight TD passes, two scoring runs) as the Shock improved to 2-4 heading into a home showdown with No. 1 Arizona. The Rattlers (6-0) edged Utah 67-61 in overtime.

Here's a link to the game story that will run in Sunday's S-R. Here's a link to the gamer in the Orlando Sentinel.

Doesn’t get any easier for Shock

Spokane needs to start winning some games to recover from a 1-4 start, but the Shock will be underdogs for at least the next two weeks, beginning with Saturday's visit to No. 2 Orlando. Next week Spokane entertains No .1 Arizona.

Here's my Shock-Predators game preview.

Championship rings and miffed Predators

Some Sunday reading material: John Blanchette says Shock ownership needs to step up to make sure the 2009 players get their rings for winning the ArenaCup championship.   Meanwhile, Orlando, particularly defensive back Kenny McEntyre, wasn’t too pleased with Saturday’s loss to Spokane.

Shock pull out 53-52 win

In yet another wild Arena Football League game, Spokane rallied in the fourth quarter to pull out a 53-52 road win over Orlando on Saturday.

The second-ranked Shock (7-2) share the AFL’s top record with No. 1 Jacksonville, a team Spokane defeated 67-57 last month.

I’ve put together a game story and you can access it here.
