Rowan pulling double duty

Taylor Rowan was a popular member of the 2010-11 Spokane Shock teams. Now, the kicker is back playing for his hometown team.

Rowan makes Spokane his home year round and he holds down a full-time job with an engineering company owned by his father-in-law. Rowan still has NFL aspirations. Spokane signed Rowan a few weeks ago to replace Kenny Spencer, who had a great 2012 season but hasn't been able to match it in 2013.

Rowan has handled kicking duties the last two weeks. More on how Rowan juggles two jobs.

Shock re-sign five from 2010 team

The Spokane Shock have re-signed five players from their 2010 ArenaBowl championship team.

Wide receivers Greg Orton and Shaun Kauleinamoku, offensive lineman Antonio Narcisse, kicker Taylor Rowan and defensive back Alex Teems are returning to the Shock.

AFL teams have until Monday to re-sign their players. After that, players become free agents and can sign with any AFL team, including the one they played for in 2010.

More below.

Rowan signs with Shock

At long last, the Spokane Shock have a kicker. Taylor Rowan has signed with the AFL team. Rowan, who kicked collegiately at Western Illinois, spent the last six games of the 2009 season with Arkansas of arenafootball2. He also played in one game for New York Sentinels last season in the UFL.

Head coach Rob Keefe chose not to bring a kicker into training camp to keep a roster spot open to look at other position players.
