The suspension, and suspense, continue

Say, maybe the Idaho Vandals and Florida Gators can play each other on Xbox 360.

It may come to that. Another day passed with no resolution on whether the two teams' game — washed out by rain and lightning last Saturday — will be played on another date this season, or whether the Vandals will get the $975,000 payday they were counting on for their trouble.

Area women’s basketball teams look to rebound after tough week

June Daugherty summed it up quite simply.

“We have to be able to rebound,” the Washington State women’s basketball coach said in a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

Daughtery was speaking literally, of course, about rebounding in order to get more looks at second and third shots in an effort to jumpstart the Cougars’offense – which has been out of sync and is still adjusting after losing guard Ireti Amojo, a key component to WSU’s offense.  

It’s not just the Cougars that need to rebound, however. After last week, all area Division I women’s basketball teams are looking to bounce back from losses – some more surprising than others. WAC sticking with 8 teams for now

Western Athletic Conference commissioner Karl Benson announced Tuesday that the WAC will delay any expansion of its membership until July 1, 2012 at the earliest. This means that for the 2011-12 season, the WAC will operate as an eight-team league that consists of Idaho, Fresno State, Hawaii, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, New Mexico State, San Jose State and Utah State.
