The view from the Ridpath Hotel

Looking west from the roof of the 13-story Ridpath Hotel, the urban panorama of Spokane reveals the Wells Fargo building, the former Farm Credit Banks building, the Davenport Tower, the Washington Trust Bank building and several smaller buildings. (Jesse Tinsley / The Spokesman-Review)

While on the roof of the still-closed Ridpath Hotel Wednesday, May 27, 2015, I made photos in three directions to document what the downtown skyline looks like in 2015.  While it's not the tallest building, the Ridpath allows you look down on most of Spokane and appreciate the architectural mix that reflects Spokane's history.

Looking east from the roof of the 13-story Ridpath Hotel, the urban panorama of Spokane reveals the top of the City Ramp garage, the Hutton building, and several others associated with the commercial downtown area. (Jesse Tinsley / The Spokesman-Review)

So far above the street level, one is left with the impression that more Spokane buildings from the golden age survived than you can appreciate from street level.

Looking north from the roof of the 13-story Ridpath Hotel, the urban panorama of Spokane reveals the Chase Bank building, the Fidelity Bank building, the Sherwood building, the Parkade, the Fernwell building and the Old National Bank building. (Jesse Tinsley / The Spokesman-Review)
