Learn about life on the farm while making lefse

Meet the goats. Sample some cheese. Make lefse. And learn about life on the farm.

Quillisascut Farm is hosting a “Sunday in the Country” workshop from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Jump in and help make lefse - thin, traditional, Norwegian potato crepes - or sit back and watch them being made while experiencing life on a working farm.

The afternoon includes visiting with chickens, making new friends and slowing down to enjoy the countryside before the busy holiday season.

It starts with tea and cheese sampling as well as stirring the kettle of plum butter that will be simmering on the stove. At noon, there’s a farm tour that includes harvesting leeks for soup as well as any remaining walnuts. Lefse-making starts at 1 p.m. Lefse-tasting is at 3 p.m.

Condé Nast Traveler magazine named Quillisascut Farm one of the best farm-to-table restaurants in the Pacific Northwest in 2013. It’s located at 2409 Pleasant Valley Road in Rice. Call (509) 738-2011.
