The Vox Box

Election Day-UPDATE (4 PM)

Some polling stations are about to close on the East Coast. Kentucky and Indiana's polling stations have already been closed and results are pending. The biggest issue right now is that at some stations across the nation, there are simply not enough voter booths and some people have had to wait anywhere from 4-7 hours until they could vote. A lot of counties and precincts are staffed based on the previous election, and not on what the predicted voter turnout will be this time around.

In a few moments, polling stations in the following states will be closing:
Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia

This is only the beginning...

UPDATE (4:30 PM):
North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia's polls are shutting down right now, and projections will be made shortly...

In 2006, then-editor Steve Smith of The Spokesman-Review had the idea of starting a publication for an often forgotten audience: teenagers. The Vox Box was a continuation of the Vox, an all-student staffed newspaper published by The Spokesman-Review. High school student journalists who staffed the Vox made all content decisions as they learn about the trade of journalism. This blog's mission was to give students an opportunity to publish their voices. The Vox Box and the Vox wrapped up in June 2009, but you can follow former staffers' new blog at http://voxxiez.blogspot.com.
