Quotes of the Week

Quote 1:
Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day, and leave out the gratitude.
E.P. Powell
What do you do on Thanksgiving? Any cool traditions? How do you include gratitude in your day?

Quote is here.

Quote 2:
Note: There was a story in the paper this morning about Black Friday. If you have time, you should really read it!
I personally don't really care much for Black Friday. It's just another marketing ploy that's way overused. I'm really disgusted at the way the Holidays have been so commercialized.
Rae (Our very own Vox Blogger!)

Do you shop on Black Friday? Do you think that the holidays have become overly commercialized?

Quote 3:
It is inappropriate. It can destroy the faith of a Muslim.
Abdul Shukor Husin,
National Fatwa Council chairman, explaining why Malaysia's top Islamic body ruled Nov. 22 against Muslims practicing yoga

Why? Anybody have any ideas? Do you practice yoga?

In 2006, then-editor Steve Smith of The Spokesman-Review had the idea of starting a publication for an often forgotten audience: teenagers. The Vox Box was a continuation of the Vox, an all-student staffed newspaper published by The Spokesman-Review. High school student journalists who staffed the Vox made all content decisions as they learn about the trade of journalism. This blog's mission was to give students an opportunity to publish their voices. The Vox Box and the Vox wrapped up in June 2009, but you can follow former staffers' new blog at http://voxxiez.blogspot.com.
