Metallica and Run-DMC: The Big Dogs

 (The Spokesman-Review)
(The Spokesman-Review)

"Dream big and dare to fail, because this is living proof that it is possible to make a dream come true."  - James Hetfield, frontman-guitarist of Metallica.

Cleveland got an earful April 4 as old-school musicians Metallica and Run-DMC worked their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Playing some of their greatest hits such as "Enter Sandman" and "Master of Puppets", Metallica revamped their hard-core reputation. According to Entertainment Weekly, they set out to "wake things up", and were definitely successful.

Rapper Eminem presented the honor to hip-hop masters Run-DMC, calling them "the baddest of the bad and the coolest of the cool." (Not a bad compliment at all from one of today's most popular musicians...)

Did you watch the ceremony? Which bands to YOU want to see recieve this honor in the future?

In 2006, then-editor Steve Smith of The Spokesman-Review had the idea of starting a publication for an often forgotten audience: teenagers. The Vox Box was a continuation of the Vox, an all-student staffed newspaper published by The Spokesman-Review. High school student journalists who staffed the Vox made all content decisions as they learn about the trade of journalism. This blog's mission was to give students an opportunity to publish their voices. The Vox Box and the Vox wrapped up in June 2009, but you can follow former staffers' new blog at http://voxxiez.blogspot.com.
