ArtWalk at Saint George’s School
Annual event has expanded this year to include food vendors, professional artists and a juried show of student artwork from across the Spokane area. There will be a reception for the juried artwork in the SGS Art Gallery and food vendors offering tacos, pizza and BBQ also will be open from 4-7 p.m. Music students will perform in the Upper School Courtyard throughout the afternoon, while drama students will present student-directed scenes in Founders Theater beginning at 6:30 p.m. Four professional artists, including sculptor Bradd Skubinna, photographer Ira Gardner, ceramicist Regina Freuen and painter Pat Siler, will display their work and talk with visitors about the art programs at local colleges and universities. A crafts table will allow younger visitors to create their own art, while artwork by SGS students will line the walls and hallways.
The artwork also will be on display May 18. The crafts table on Saturday will feature watercolor painting, which also is the focus of the children’s book “Sky Color” on the school’s Story Trail. Families can walk the quarter-mile long trail through the woods above the Saint George’s campus on Saturday.
