“Unsung Heroes: The Story of America’s Female Patriots”
Retired Major Robert H. Riedel, Department of Military Science, will introduce the film and talk about the importance of acknowledging the long history of women who have served in all branches of the military: women who have become heroes. Unsung Heroes focuses on the accomplishments of women in the military throughout history, dating back to the Revolutionary War. All branches of the military are included. Twelve current U.S. army soldiers and officers are featured. Panel following the film will include Kathleen Huttenmaier, MA, History, Women’s and Gender Studies, LTC Jason Pape, Department of Military Science, and local writer Mary Cronk Farrell, author of Pure Grit.
