“HIV/AIDS and Women in Prostitution: What’s Human Rights Got to Do With It?”
Contemporary Issues in Feminist Research. In this presentation Bipasha Biswas, PhD, school of social work, highlights “structural violence” experienced by women living in poverty in some of the poorest regions of the world. Knowledge from research and practice experiences of working with women in prostitution affected with HIV/AIDS in India will be shared. The discussion includes facing death in the context of HIV/AIDS-related stigma, discrimination and denial of care for being born women. Part of the EWU Women’s Studies programs.
