You are correct...and it drives Liberals (who thrive on controlling-people) nuts.
Another historical fact is that not all American slaves were black. Many were
Irish and other minorities who initially could not survive on their own.
Also mention that historically the African Slave trade was primarily done by North African Muslims.
The other frustration talking to Lefties is their standards. They either have
multiple-standards or ....no standards. (Rarely a consistent standard.)
Scoutster on IRS’ tea party admission was planned
May 18 at 9:38 a.m.
This is not a scandal, it is a screw up by some low level functionaries trying to weed out the flood of Tea Party related groups that sprang up as Beck and the rest frothed up the market share.
The IG basically said so yesterday in testimony.
Investigate all you want, but it is illogical to believe this is some master conspiracy on behalf of the socialists. Would you assume it would never come to light if the Master Muslim Socialist Himself sent the orders to Cincinnati? Would you believe career bureaucrats routinely bend to the partisan will of political superiors as if the pendulum won't swing the other way? What silliness. Get a grip.
Impeachment? What a laugh. We need more Barbara Jordans and fewer Michelle Bachmans.

It's damaging to society to treat all people equally? The concept that all are created equal and deserve equal justice before the law is the fundamental basis on which this country is based.
You would accept a society that discriminates against some, yet without understanding that if some may be discriminated against, that there may be reasons in the future why people may find that YOU may be discriminated against.
If you understand anything about the Constitution, you should understand that ensuring equal justice before the law for all people is the shield by which you ensure equal justice for yourself.

Agreed. Personally, I am proud that we passed Marriage Equality. I have many gay friends and have all of my life. One of my good friends recently passed the Bar in California and is practicing law after going back to school. He's 43 and living his dream and I couldn't be more proud of him.

It's my opinion that in nearly all cases the Sheriff and Chief would handle these "violations" properly and expeditiously....if they knew that they'd be supported by "the system"....aka the unions and the courts. Quite sad, and expensive, that their hands are so tied.

My best friend in junior high and high school had two mom's. We spent alot of time at his house and ours, and there wasn't much difference at all between the two homes. One thing was fundamental, two parents taking responsibility for raising well adjusted, self confident children. I remember my parents not being too happy about it in the beginning, but they soon began to realize that his Mom's were doing a great job raising a great kid and his sister. They both are successful in their careers and married and have kids of their own now and we still stay in contact today even though we are in different areas of the US.

The costs are becoming extreme...and some of the implementation had to be

America used to at one time have another "legal" liberal democrat policy. It was called "Slavery". It was legal but it was wrong. Before you go rewriting history and try to pin that on the Republican party anyone who knows anything about history knows the huge plantations that had slaves were almost exclusively democrats. As a country we rejected the evils of Slavery and if we are smart we will also reject the evil that is homosexuality. It took a long time to get rid of slavery but maybe we won't be so foolish when it comes to defining deviancy down.

There are unsolved murders in every town, and meanwhile the jails are full of drug addicts. In another generation, all respect for this kind of "law and order" will have evaporated.
I think our friend Mindy was murdered - the whole press of the entire area should have devoted full time to solving that one, because the police certainly did not. But they moved on to another story, hopefully happening in Boston or someplace else so they don't have to aggressively cover the same people they drink with in the bars.
I don't play such games. I write what I know and what I think. My latest flirtation with working for a newspaper was a disaster: two investigative reports, uncovering crime and malfeasance in government, shot down to avoid stirring the pot. They basically wanted press releases rewritten, when they advertised for a reporter. I found something else to ...

Yes, in fact, they were harmed by not being served. They were denied the services that all others who enter that store receive with the simple understanding that all they have to do is have the money to pay for the service.
However, for this couple, there was attached to the contract an additional rider, i.e. that you must not be gay. This is discrimination. They were harmed by being turned away and having to pay the expenses of going someplace else, purchasing someplace else where they may not have gotten as good a price, having to take the extra time to do so, all because they don't share the same world view as the shop owner.
Were they damaged?
Indeed, they were.

The fundamental concepts upon which this country is founded are that all men are equal and deserve equal representation before the law.
This means that unless a particular action by a person harms you or denies your rights, you cannot legislate against it.
Since the law does not consider such concepts as 'deviancy' or 'perversion', but, rather, looks solely at rights, then the issue is not whether or not gay people should be allowed to marry, but who's rights will be damaged or denied if they are allowed to marry.
Since it is obvious that who a person chooses to marry neither changes the marriage of anyone else, nor damages the rights of anyone else, then there is no legal footing to oppose gay marriage.
To deny the same rights that you claim to a group of people, absent any harm to another, simply because of who they are ...

Steb, that's awful. Police should stop arresting marijuana smokers and round up all the killers. But it doesn't really pay to arrest killers, while the federal government will provide millions in grants to arrest potheads, and besides you get to steal all their money and personal belongings under RICO. It's keeping most law enforcement agencies afloat without raising taxes and the newspapers are afraid to report it. Another FAIL by the police and the media.
