Robert Franks scores 34 again, Washington State beats Arizona 69-55

Robert Franks matched his career high for the second straight game with 34 points and Washington State ended a 13-game losing streak against Arizona by beating the Wildcats 69-55 on Saturday night. Washington State (10-4, 3-8 Pac-12) swept the Arizona schools on the road for the first time since the 2006-07 season and won in Tucson for the first time since Jan. 8, 2010.

Five impressions: How Robert Franks, Marvin Cannon and strong perimeter D helped Washington State stun Arizona State in Tempe

Even if the result doesn’t change the course of their season, it gave the Cougars their first win outside of Beasley Coliseum and broke up a stretch that had seen them lose 11 of their previous 12 games. WSU now sits at 9-14 overall and 2-8 in the Pac-12 going into Saturday’s game against Arizona (14-9, 5-5) at the McKale Center (4:30 p.m. PT, Pac-12 Networks).

USC opens hot, outlasts Washington State to finish line for 93-84 victory

Even in a few of their worst losses this season, the Washington State Cougars have usually played 15-20 minutes of spirited basketball before watching a taller, stronger and more skilled Pac-12 opponent unleash a mighty scoring run to put the game out of reach.

Washington State, USC looking to reboot their offenses Saturday at Beasley Coliseum

Five teams sit between USC (12-9, 5-3) and Washington State (8-13, 1-7) in the league standings entering a 4 p.m. showdown at Beasley Coliseum (Pac-12 Networks), but while their season trajectories might differ, the Trojans and Cougars also share similar objectives entering their ninth Pac-12 game.

Following two more road losses, Washington State looking to recapture its rhythm at home against UCLA

In a season that’s becoming more and more about the silver linings, WSU can still fall back on its play at Beasley Coliseum. The level of competition considered, the Cougars are still 8-1 there and have two more opportunities at home this week, hosting UCLA (11-9, 4-3) on Wednesday (7 p.m., Pac-12 Networks) and USC (12-8, 5-2) on Saturday (4 p.m., Pac-12 Networks).

Robert Franks fuels Washington State with 24 points in dominant 82-59 win over Cal

Fully healed from the hip injury that kept him off the court for almost a month, Robert Franks helped Washington State repair many of its own wounds Thursday night at Beasley Coliseum – most of them on the offense end – and guided the Cougars to a dominant 82-59 win over the Golden Bears in a matchup of the only two teams without a Pac-12 win.
