COUGARS
FROM PORTLAND — It's just about time to fly back to Spokane, but first, our daily Pac-12 roundup and some more WSU notes.
…
We have our game story, which focuses on how much better WSU fared against Oregon this time around while still falling short. And as usual, we had a postgame overview on the blog. … Steve Kelley covered the game for the Seattle Times. … Howie Stalwick has a story in the News Tribune. … Here's the view from the Oregon side. … The win kept the Ducks in the Pac-12 title chase. George Schroeder has a column from the game.
Around the Pac-12 …
Arizona 70, Utah 61: The Wildcats had “pathetic confidence,” according to their coach, but still gutted it out. Utah hasn't won a road game this season, but the loss was still “heartbreaking.”
California 73, UCLA 63: The Bruins had their schedule cleared by first-place Cal. The Bears built a big lead before holding on.
Colorado 63, Arizona State 49: Size wasn't a problem for the Buffaloes, who turned a close game early into a blowout. ASU still hasn't won consecutive games this season.
There will be lots of NBA talent playing in Corvallis tonight (UW at OSU, 2:30 p.m.). … Turnover margin could be important when USC faces Stanford tonight (4:30 p.m.).
All for now. We'll be back when events merit.
