Live chat on a Thursday, plus links

COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN — With WSU holding its media availability yesterday afternoon, we decided to postpone this week's live chat to this afternoon at 1 p.m. Hope you all can make it. We also have a few stories to pass along, so read on.

In today's newspaper, we had our preview of the Pac-12 conference season, which began yesterday with Arizona State topping Utah in overtime. We also posted on the blog with some notes and quotes from Ken Bone's meeting with the media, and had a preview box (shortened for space reasons) in the newspaper along with a brief note. … Howie Stalwick has a feature on Brock Motum in the Kitsap Sun that ran elsewhere a while back. … From the Washington side, here's a preview of the Huskies' Pac-12 season from Percy Allen. … Bud Withers predicts the Pac-12's order of finish.

In Pac-12 basketball news … As mentioned above, Arizona State held off Utah, 55-54 in overtime, in the first game of Pac-12 play. … Arizona wants to maintain its energy level when it faces Colorado today at 5 p.m. (ESPNU). … Shabazz Muhammad has fueled the recent success of UCLA, which hosts California at 8 p.m. today (FSN). … Stanford plays at USC tonight at 7 (ESPNU).

In Pac-12 football news … Oregon concludes the Pac-12 bowl season when it faces Kansas State tonight in the Fiesta Bowl (5:30 p.m., ESPN). Seems everyone makes money off bowls except for the key participants. Chip Kelly's days at Oregon may be few now. … A Utah defensive lineman is leaving school early. … Arizona's running back will (likely) end the season as the nation's leading rusher. … Colorado's new coach hired a whole bunch of his old assistants. … Stanford has some important players to replace next season.

That's all for now. See you at 1 p.m. for the chat.
