COUGARS

FROM CORVALLIS — It's another Pac-12 gameday, this one featuring four games. Washington State's tilt with Oregon State is among them. We have some links before that game tips at 2 p.m., so read on.

Meaningless statistical note: I've covered three games at Gill Coliseum, and the visiting team has won each of them. … We have a very short preview of the game in today's newspaper. We also held a live chat yesterday. … WSU missed out on a highly-rated receiver prospect who committed to Texas A&M yesterday. … A former Cougar player has been hired as an assistant coach by the Jacksonville Jaguars. … Here's a replay of an Oregon State live chat from the Oregonian yesterday.

Around the Pac-12 … Was talking with my dad yesterday when he pointed out something that is worth mentioning here. The Pac-12 schedules games on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays now in an attempt to spread as much action across your television screens as possible. But the four games being played today are at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 4 p.m. So you'll only be able to watch two of those from start to finish. It's one thing to have a couple Thursday night games played at or near the same time, because it's a week night and there's only so much flexibility involved there. But you're playing four games on a Saturday and not one of them starts later than 4 p.m.? What gives? I guess it allows the visiting teams the chance to return home on commercial flights afterward, but that's just about the only upside. (Though at least, for once, those start times seem to benefit the people attending the games more than the people watching at home. When was the last time you could say that?)… The first game of the day features UCLA and Arizona State (1 p.m., FSN), as the Bruins seek a road sweep and ASU goes for what would be its biggest win of the season. … Arizona tries to bounce back from its loss to UCLA with a game against USC (4 p.m., ESPNU). … Oregon hosts Washington tonight in a game that doesn't seem as interesting as it did seven days ago (4 p.m., Pac-12 Networks). … Colorado's star forward is the nation's best rebounder.

That's all for now. We'll be back before the game.
