Reviewing the spring, plus other links

FROM PULLMAN — With spring practice over, it's time to take a look back. So we continue to have links for you. Fancy that. Keep reading.

In today's newspaper, we tried to catch you up to speed with a position by position rundown of where the Cougars stand as they head into the summer. … We also have a basketball note: coach Ken Bone confirmed something yesterday I'd been told last week — that walk-on Bryce Leavitt will transfer to North Idaho College. Leavitt had hoped to earn a scholarship at WSU, but there simply wasn't enough room for him. Bone did say he expects walk-ons Dominic Ballard, George Hill and Keaton Hayenga to return. … Another basketball note: DaVonte Lacy has been running and playing again for the past couple weeks, Bone said, so his recovery from knee surgery appears to be going just fine.

Around the Pac-12 … A former Pac-12 player, Jason Collins, who starred as a basketball player at Stanford, became the first openly gay male athlete in a major sport by coming out in this Sports Illustrated article. The reaction has been mostly positive, save for a select few. … A Colorado player who used to be a receiver is now a cornerback, and he likes it. … Former Arizona State linebacker Arizona State encourages another ASU player to play with a chip on his shoulder. Preferably a Dorito.
