Pac-12 notes on a Sunday morning

COUGARS

FROM SALT LAKE CITY — It's time to head back to the Palouse, and because Gonzaga lost last night, we'll be home for the foreseeable future. As we make our way back, read these links to stories with words and such.

Josh Wright was again charitable enough yesterday to cover WSU's spring practice, and he wrote this story about nose tackle Ioane Gauta and his leaner physique.

Around the Pac-12 … Arizona is moving onto the Sweet 16 after blasting Harvard, 74-51, the Wildcats' second blowout victory of the tournament. … Oregon, too, is still alive after handling Saint Louis, 74-57. The Ducks will meet No. 1 seed Louisville in the Sweet 16. … California's season is over after the Bears lost 66-60 to a much better Syracuse team. Allen Crabbe wasn't pleased with his performance, though he won't say if he's returning to school next season. … Stanford was eliminated from the NIT yesterday by Alabama. … Colorado is now focused on improving during the offseason. … Arizona State guard Jahii Carson has an NBA draft decision to make. … Ben Howland may be on the verge of being fired — some outlets are reporting he's already been terminated — though the school is denying such claims. Here's a recap of the situation from the Los Angeles Times.

That's all for now.
