College football’s coaching carousel returns to the Palouse

Washington State inside receivers coach Eric Morris is headed back to his alma mater.

Morris, who played receiver for WSU coach Mike Leach at Texas Tech from 2005-08, has accepted a position on the staff of new TTU coach Kliff Kingsbury. His exact role is unclear.

Morris, 27, was hired as part of Leach’s first staff at WSU after serving as a quality control and graduate assistant at Houston for two seasons. He is a native of Shallowater, Texas.

Morris recruited the Dallas Fort-Worth and Inland Empire (Calif.) areas for the Cougars, and was also responsible for recruiting quarterbacks. He was the primary recruiter of quarterback Tyler Bruggman, a 4-star prospect from Phoenix who orally committed to WSU during the summer.

Jeff Choate, WSU’s linebackers coach, has been linked to the defensive coordinator job at UTEP.
