Spokane developer Harlan Douglass accuses former ‘No. 1 trusted employee’ of fraud, embezzlement

Rachel Murphy worked for Douglass Properties from 1997 until she was fired in June 2017, according to a complaint filed last week in Spokane County Superior Court. It states that she was authorized to use three company credit cards, cut checks to suppliers and contractors, and approve expenditures of subordinate employees. Now her former boss is suing her for embezzlement.

Man sentenced to 16 years to life for child rape

A man was sentenced to 16-plus years in Spokane County Court today for repeatedly sexually assaulting a child over a period of time, according to a press release form Spokane County Sheriff’s Department.

Fire damages home Wednesday evening

Firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. on the corner of North Cincinnati Street and East Carlisle Avenue.
