M 2011 Idaho General Election

Adam Graves

A candidate for Council Seat 1, City of Coeur d'Alene in the 2011 Idaho General Election

City: Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

On this race: Graves, 37, calls himself a “locally raised, independently successful, creative business thinker looking to improve our great city.” He serves on the board of the Downtown Association and helped raise the money to reposition Sorenson Elementary School as a magnet school for arts and humanities. He says because technology allows people to start businesses anywhere and still operate within the global economy, communities poised with solid infrastructure and good quality of life will attract more of those businesses. That’s what Coeur d’Alene needs to do, he said, and among the features adding value to the city is the proposed plan to remake McEuen Field, downtown’s aging park. Graves said even in a difficult economy, cities need to invest in their future. “If I don’t run, who’s going to be running? Is it just the people who want to cut, cut, cut?”
